Ninety minutes of your time will go a long way toward showing Interim Superintendent Kent Kern how important a performing arts center is to our students and community.
Our mission is to build a 600-seat state-of-the-art performing arts center and gallery on the campus of El Camino High School in Sacramento, CA.
Since the spring of 2008, a group of committed parents, known as the ecARTS Committee, has been meeting to discuss ideas about this facility that would best serve the needs of ECHS and the surrounding community, where that facility would best fit on the EC campus, and how to see the project through to its completion.
ecARTS: Inspiring talent. Enriching lives.
The Performing Arts Center at El Camino High School will be a premier performance and gallery venue for students in the San Juan Unified School District (SJUSD) and the community-at-large. Students from around the district with a desire to pursue the visual and performing arts as a career will choose El Camino for its wide range of academic coursework infused with practical experience in the business and technological aspects of the industry. SJUSD students will bring their creativity to life through comprehensive coursework, performances and gallery shows.

1) Over 50% of the students at El Camino enroll in the performing and visual arts each year.
2) The performing arts department regularly schedules over 90 music concerts & theatrical productions per year with as many as 600 audience members in attendance at each performance.
3) Currently, the cafeteria & gymnasiums are the only options for campus performance venues. These are inadequatae in terms of size, flexibility, sound quality, lighting and seating.
4) The visual arts department has been forced to give up the school art gallery, leaving them without space to display student work.
5) As a result of inadequate facilities, visual and peforming arts programs are forced to rent outside facilities at considerable expense.
6) ecARTS will provide a shared-use facility for neighboring middle schools and high schools.
7) ecARTS will also play host to community and professional productions as a potential revenue source.
